Job summary

Electro Optic Systems is seeking an experienced technician to bridge engineering and field operations in Canberra. You will build, integrate and maintain high energy laser weapon systems for trials and customer demonstrations, including running the system on the range and during live serial events.

Role suits someone with a weapons, range or trials background who wants ownership of an entire system, not just a bench.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or Advanced Diploma in electrical, electronic, mechanical or mechatronic discipline.
• Minimum 5 years in build, integration, test or maintenance of complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience in a military, weapons or range environment, including familiarity with range safety procedures.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams and fault-find with meters and scopes.
• Experience with precision assembly and handling of sensitive equipment, including optics.
• Current driver licence and capacity for field work, including extended outdoor work.
• Willingness to spend extended periods at test ranges and trial sites in Australia, including after hours during campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble and integrate laser system hardware across subsystems per drawings and work instructions.
• Set up, operate and maintain the system during lab tests, range trials and demonstrations.
• Perform maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair, including component replacement and realignment.
• Prepare, transport and pack the system for range activities, including lifting and tie-down.
• Maintain records and feed issues back to engineering with actionable detail.
• Contribute to improvements of maintenance procedures and training material.
