Job summary

Hastings Deering is seeking an experienced Digger Fitter to service a fleet of large CAT mining machines in the Rockhampton region. The role features a 7 days on / 7 days off roster, competitive hourly wages with field service allowances, and travel between customer sites.

You will perform maintenance, repairs and component replacements on Caterpillar equipment, diagnose faults, document service activity, and build strong relationships with our customers while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications and CAT product knowledge required.
• Experience diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Ability to travel between sites in Rockhampton region.

Responsibilities

We're seeking skilled Digger Fitters to join our Field Service team supporting mining operations in Rolleston.

Working a lifestyle-friendly 7 days on / 7 days off roster, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of large mining excavators while enjoying excellent earning potential and company-provided benefits. In this role, you will:

Perform maintenance, repairs and component replacements on Caterpillar equipment.

About You

A successful teammate will have:

Trade qualifications – Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent diesel fitter trade.

Caterpillar product knowledge – experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling.

Strong troubleshooting skills – ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.

Customer-focused mindset – confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.

Safety-first approach – committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.

Valid driver’s licence – required to travel between customer sites across the Rockhampton region.
