Job summary

Yarrawonga Medical Clinic is seeking an experienced Nutritionist to join our GP-led weight management program. You will provide evidence-based nutrition advice, coaching, and ongoing support to help patients achieve sustainable lifestyle changes in a collaborative clinic setting.

This permanent part-time role offers flexible hours and the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of our weight management services within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Requires tertiary qualifications in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
  • Current registration with a relevant professional association where applicable.
  • Interest in weight management, obesity treatment, chronic disease management, or lifestyle medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments.
  • Develop personalised nutrition plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Provide one-on-one consultations and ongoing support.
  • Educate patients on healthy eating, weight management, and lifestyle changes.
  • Collaborate with GPs and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust recommendations accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Support growth and promotion of the weight management program.
  • Refer to GP/dietitian when appropriate.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions as needed.
  • Focus on long-term health outcomes rather than short-term changes.

About the Role

As our Nutritionist, you will play a key role in supporting patients participating in our GP-led weight management program. You will provide evidence-based nutritional advice, behavioural coaching, and ongoing support to help patients achieve sustainable lifestyle changes and improved health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments.

  • Develop personalised nutrition support tailored to individual patient needs.

  • Provide one-on-one consultations and ongoing patient support.

  • Educate patients on healthy eating habits, weight management, and lifestyle modifications.

  • Work collaboratively with GPs and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.

  • Monitor patient progress and adjust nutritional recommendations as required.

  • Identify nutrition related risks, barriers & opportunities for dietary improvement.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

  • Support the growth and promotion of the clinic's weight management program.

  • Recognise when referral to GP/Dietician is appropriate.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions where appropriate.

  • Focus on improving health outcomes rather than restrictive/short term approach

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.

  • Current registration or membership with an appropriate professional association (where applicable).

  • Interest in working with weight management, obesity treatment, chronic disease management, or lifestyle medicine.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Desirable
  • Experience working within a general practice or primary healthcare setting.

  • Knowledge of behavioural change strategies and motivational interviewing.

  • Experience supporting patients using medical weight loss therapies and lifestyle interventions.
