Job summary

Broken Hill Truck Centre Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified Diesel Motor Mechanic to join the Service Department in a permanent full‑time role in Broken Hill. The position involves servicing, maintaining and repairing trucks, trailers and associated equipment to manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.

The successful candidate will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults, perform engine and component repairs, and support apprentices with on‑the‑job training.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate IV in Auto Technology or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of work experience in diesel/heavy vehicle repairs.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults in truck engines, transmissions and electrical systems using diagnostic tools.
• Dismantle and reassemble engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms and related components.
• Repair or replace worn parts following manufacturer guidelines.
• Perform scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and tune-ups.
• Test and adjust parts to ensure proper performance and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate service records and job cards.
• Collaborate with Workshop Foreman and Service Manager to meet deadlines.
• Mentor apprentices and provide on‑the‑job training when needed.
• Report safety concerns and defects promptly.
