Job summary

Cummins is seeking a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join the Rail workshop team in Sydney, working on exhaust engines, power units and control panels for train fleets. The role emphasises engine rebuilds, diagnostics, and using Cummins CRM for service orders.

You will operate on mid to high horsepower engines, enjoy a stable day shift, and benefit from an above-award hourly rate with overtime penalties, a bonus program, PPE and uniform provision, and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Heavy Diesel Mechanic or Plant Mechanic with heavy experience
• Experience servicing heavy diesel products
• Engine rebuild/reconditioning knowledge
• Strong diagnostic skills with computer systems

Job description

We are looking for talented Heavy Diesel Mechanics to join our RAIL workshop team in Wetherill Park specialising in engine strip, rebuild and reconditioning for train fleet customers.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Works on auxiliary power supply units and traction engines of the Sydney Trains diesel powered train fleet.

Repair and overhaul of engines and control panels

Required to use Cummins CRM tool for completing customer order related job stories and documentation

Mid-range and High horse power engines

Day Shift - 6.25am to 2.30pm Monday - Friday!

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Mechanical trades qualified - Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Plant Mechanic with heavy experience

Experience as a technician in the service and maintenance of heavy diesel products

Ideally possess engine rebuild and reconditioning experience or knowledge

Solid diagnostic capabilities with the help of systems on computers

• Competitive above award hourly rate paid as a permanent salary
• Overtime penalties for all work above standard Monday – Friday 38-hour work week
