Job summary

BuildRight Construction AU is seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter/Heavy Plant Mechanic to service and repair heavy mobile plant across workshop and field sites. You will diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, and keep accurate service records while working in varied environments.

The ideal candidate has recognised trade qualifications, demonstrates strong diagnostic and hydraulic skills, and can operate independently with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Recognised trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter, Heavy Plant Mechanic or Mobile Plant Mechanic or equivalent.
• Proven experience maintaining heavy mobile plant or construction equipment.
• Experience with excavators, cranes, piling equipment, earthmoving machinery or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing across heavy plant and construction equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and identify component or system failures.
• Carry out electrical fault finding on mobile plant.
• Service and repair excavators, cranes, piling rigs and other specialised equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns at worksites and complete field repairs.
• Inspect machinery for faults, wear, damage and maintenance needs.
• Remove, repair and replace mechanical and hydraulic components.
• Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high safety standards.
• Maintain detailed service, repair and inspection records.
• Prepare equipment for safe and reliable operation.
• Use diagnostic and testing equipment as required.
• Work independently during field-service assignments and breakdown calls.
• Communicate repair needs and outcomes clearly to stakeholders.
• Follow company safety procedures and industry standards at all times.
