Job summary

BHP is seeking a Heavy Diesel Fitter to join the Mobile Maintenance team in Newman, Pilbara. You will perform both preventative and breakdown maintenance on heavy surface mining equipment, including CAT 793F trucks and 785 Watercarts, ensuring reliability and efficiency across operations.

About the Role Join our dynamic Mobile Maintenance team at Newman Operations, situated in the Pilbara Region on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people. As a Heavy Diesel Fitter, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our operations, working with both breakdown and planned maintenance teams. Key Responsibilities:

• Performing preventative and breakdown maintenance on heavy surface mining equipment.
• Diagnosing faults and conducting repairs and servicing of diesel engines and components primarily on CAT 793F Trucks and CAT 785 Watercarts.
• Supporting continuous improvement through procedure updates and root cause analysis.
• Contributing to a safe and collaborative team environment.

About You

• Ability to commit to 8 days on, 6 days off, followed by 7 nights on, 7 nights off, with FIFO arrangements from Perth.
• Prior exposure to mining or similar heavy industries is preferred.
• Experience with Caterpillar equipment is desirable.
• Experience in maintaining and diagnosing mobile equipment is highly regarded.
• Team-focused, with a strong commitment to safety in the workplace.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
