Australian Airport Services – Canberra ACT is seeking a full-time Diesel Fitter / Vehicle Mechanic to service and repair a range of Ground Support Equipment at Canberra Airport. The role involves fault-finding, routine maintenance and major repairs across equipment such as pushback tractors, cargo loaders, baggage tugs and more.

The successful candidate will maintain safety and compliance, travel to regional ports for breakdowns, and work independently in remote locations when required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a relevant trade qualification and certification in Vehicle Mechanic/Diesel Fitter.
• Ability to collaborate with other mechanics, technicians and team members.

Responsibilities

• Fault-finding mechanical issues and carrying out routine maintenance and repairs.

Australian Airport Services is a small Australian business that started its journey in June 2003. We assist airlines and ground handlers with maintenance and repairs on Ground Support Equipment.

Role Description

We're looking for a full-time Diesel Fitter / Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at Canberra Airport. You’ll take on everything from routine servicing to hands on fault-finding and major repairs across a large range of Ground Support Equipment, which includes pushback tractors, cargo loaders, baggage tugs, ground power units, air start units and more. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our customers operations running smoothly.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Fault-finding mechanical issues and carrying out routine maintenance and repairs.
• Ensuring a safe and compliant work environment at all times.
• Travelling to regional ports as required to conduct breakdown repairs and scheduled maintenance.
• This role requires a proactive and adaptable mechanic with strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently when attending remote locations.
