Job summary

Wilmar Sugar Australia is inviting a skilled Diesel Fitter to join the Plane Creek Mill maintenance team in Sarina. You will work on locomotives, heavy mobile plant and specialised equipment, expanding your skills beyond a traditional workshop role.

In this role you will keep locomotive fleets and mobile plant running, perform preventative maintenance, fault-finding and repairs, and mentor apprentices while collaborating with the broader maintenance team to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Recognised Diesel Fitter trade qualification.
• Experience with heavy mobile plant, diesel equipment or similar machinery.
• Current manual driver's licence.
• Current Confined Space Entry and Working Safely at Heights tickets.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Genuine commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Keeping heavy equipment moving – Service and maintain trucks, tractors and other diesel-powered mobile plant.
• Working on locomotives – Preventative maintenance, fault finding, inspections and repairs across locomotive fleet.
• Solve problems, not just breakdowns – Identify issues and help improve reliability and performance of equipment.
• Pass on your knowledge – Support apprentices and trainees through hands-on training, guidance and mentoring.
• Work with a great team – Collaborate with Work Coordinators and maintenance team to plan and deliver maintenance.
• Keep things running smoothly – Complete work orders, permits, timesheets and maintenance documentation accurately.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys getting their hands dirty, solving mechanical problems and working with heavy equipment.

You'll ideally have:

• A recognised Diesel Fitter/Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
• Experience working with heavy mobile plant, diesel equipment or similar machinery
• A current manual driver's licence
• Current Confined Space Entry and Working Safely at Heights tickets
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• A genuine commitment to safety and teamwork
