Job summary

Thiess is seeking experienced Diesel Fitters for the Olive Downs Complex in Queensland's Bowen Basin. You will maintain and service a range of mobile plant equipment, performing diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance while adhering to safety standards.

The role offers a permanent full-time contract with a 7/7 days/nights roster, reliable site facilities, and opportunities for ongoing training and development within a modern autonomous mining operation.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Diesel Fitting is required.
• Post-trade mining or heavy earthmoving experience is preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently and in a team is required.

Responsibilities

• Safely maintain, repair and service mobile plant equipment to Thiess and industry standards.

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Diesel Fitter with a strong commitment to safety and maintaining heavy mining equipment? Thiess is seeking experienced and motivated Diesel Fitters to join our high-performing team at the Olive Downs Complex in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

As a key member of the Olive Downs maintenance team, you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and servicing a range of mobile plant equipment, supporting safe, reliable and efficient mining operations.

Roster: 7/7 Days/Nights | Location: Olive Downs Complex, Bowen Basin, QLD | Employment Type: Permanent Full-time

As a Diesel Fitter, you will:

• Safely maintain, repair and service a variety of mobile plant equipment in line with Thiess and industry standards.
• Perform diagnostics, fault finding, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and component change-outs.
• Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to deliver high-quality maintenance outcomes.
• Follow work instructions and complete all required documentation to a high standard.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards to support a safe and efficient work environment.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to risk management, safe work practices and continuous improvement.

About you

To be successful in this role you are required to have:

• Trade Certificate in Diesel Fitting or relevant equivalent qualification.
• Post-trade experience within the mining or heavy earthmoving industry.
• Experience in general maintenance, breakdowns, component change-outs and servicing of heavy earthmoving equipment.
• Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Current Driver Licence.
• Current Standard 11 is desirable.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a maintenance team.
• Demonstrated commitment to a positive safety culture.
