Job summary

SMW-Shutdowns, Maintenance & Welding in Central Queensland seeks experienced Diesel Mechanics/Fitters to service fleet and heavy equipment. Join a skilled mechanical maintenance team in field servicing, maintenance and emergency repair/rebuilds.

The role requires a trade qualification and at least two years post-trade experience, preferably with earth moving machinery, with strong diagnostic and IT skills. Salary ranges from AUD 75,000 to 85,000 plus Super, and is a permanent full-time position.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required.
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
• Good IT and diagnostic skills.
• Physically fit and able to handle hands-on maintenance.
• Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
• Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organization skills.
• Two years post-trade experience, preferably with earth moving machinery.

Responsibilities

• Running diagnostic tests on vehicles.
• Analyzing diagnostic test results.
• Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems.
• Checking vehicle lighting systems.
• Test driving vehicles to gauge performance.
• Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks.
• Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.
• Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist.
• Maintaining a parts inventory.
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the workshop and worksite.

Our valued client SMW-Shutdowns, Maintenance & Welding is a proud Central Queensland provider of field servicing, maintenance and emergency repair / rebuild services with over 10 years experience servicing the Central Queensland region. They are currently seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanics/Fitters to join their highly skilled and qualified mechanical maintenance team in servicing and maintaining fleet and heavy equipment.

Duties

• Running diagnostic tests on vehicles
• Analyzing diagnostic test results
• Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems
• Checking vehicle lighting systems
• Test driving vehicles to gauge performance
• Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks
