Job summary

Black Cat Civil is seeking experienced Diesel Fitters to support civil projects on a FIFO 2/1 roster across the Northern Territory and Queensland. You will service, maintain and repair Caterpillar mobile plant and heavy equipment in remote sites.

The role requires strong hydraulics and diesel engine knowledge, a trade qualification, 2+ years post-trade experience, and the ability to work independently or with a team. Travel to remote locations and adherence to site safety standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required (Diesel Fitting, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Mobile Plant Technology).
• Minimum 2+ years post-trade experience in heavy equipment.
• Experience with CAT equipment highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site servicing, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on mobile plant and heavy machinery.
• Maintain and repair CAT heavy earthmoving equipment: excavators, loaders, graders, dozers, rollers, trucks, generators, and light vehicles.
• Conduct fault finding and diagnostic troubleshooting using OEM systems and tools; attend breakdowns and provide field service.
• Prepare and commission new machines to site specifications.
• Complete service documentation, job cards and maintenance records.
• Liaise with Fleet Manager/Workshop Supervisor to coordinate parts and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with WHS, safety and quality standards.
