Job summary

Bell Bay Aluminium, part of Rio Tinto, is offering a Diesel Fitter Apprenticeship in Northern Tasmania. You will train on mobile plant maintenance, work across fleets and complete a nationally recognised training plan with Tas TAFE.

The role emphasises teamwork, safety, and hands-on learning under experienced mentors. Applicants should aim to complete Year 10/12 and demonstrate interest in heavy vehicles, with a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Passing grades in Maths and English
• Demonstrated interest in Heavy Commercial Vehicles or Mobile Plant Machinery
• Desire and willingness to learn with a self‑motivated ‘can do’ attitude
• Strong work ethics with a commitment to health, safety and environmental work practices
• Experience working as part of a team and strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Learning and developing trade knowledge and skills relating to mobile plant maintenance, machinery, processes and systems deployed across the site
• Working towards completing an apprenticeship with a recognised training plan through internal and external training
• Ensuring safe, continuous and environmentally responsible operations
• Gaining experience from a range of qualified trade experts with onsite mentors
