Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd invites experienced Diesel Technicians to join our Toowoomba Power Systems workshop. You will diagnose, repair, overhaul and maintain Caterpillar diesel and gas engines, generator sets and related power system components in a modern workshop.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications in Mobile Plant Technology or equivalent diesel fitter trade.
• Caterpillar product knowledge with diagnostics tooling experience desirable.
• Engine servicing and overhauling diesel and gas engines experience.
• Strong troubleshooting to diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic faults.
• Safety-first attitude with high WHS standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical service – diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on Caterpillar diesel and gas engines, generator sets and power systems.
• Maintain equipment reliability – engine overhauls and component rebuilds.
• Apply technical precision – use Caterpillar systems, service information and diagnostic tooling to meet OEM standards.

We're looking for experienced Diesel Technicians to join our team in Toowoomba, working within our Power Systems workshop. In this role, you'll diagnose, repair, overhaul and maintain Caterpillar diesel and gas engines, generator sets and associated power system components in a modern workshop environment. This is a Permanent, Monday to Friday role.

What you’ll need

A successful teammate will have:

• Trade qualifications – Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent diesel fitter trade.
• Caterpillar product knowledge – experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling (Desirable but not essential.
• Engine Experience - Experience servicing and overhauling diesel and gas engines.
• Generator expertise – strong hands-on experience servicing and repairing Caterpillar diesel generators in field environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills – ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.
• Customer-focused mindset – confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.
• Safety-first approach – committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.
