Job summary

South32 is seeking a skilled Diesel Fitter to maintain heavy vehicle and underground drilling equipment on a 7:7 day/night FIFO/DIDO roster across multiple Queensland sites. You'll work to defined standards to maximise equipment availability and support the mine's production targets.

You will perform scheduled and breakdown maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems, using SAP CMMS, and contribute to safe, efficient operations in an underground environment on Sandvik, Epiroc and

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter / Mechanic (Australian recognised).
• Requires Class C or higher driver's licence.
• Experience on underground drill rigs and mobile plant.
• Strong hydraulic fault finding skills and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Scheduled and breakdown maintenance of mobile plant including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Maintain underground drilling equipment (Sandvik DD421, Epiroc Simba LC6/MC6).
• Support work management through accurate scoping of corrective work.
• Operate and document using SAP CMMS.

There are several permanent positions on a 7:7 day/night roster, FIFO from Townsville, Brisbane, Cairns or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.

As the Diesel Fitter, you will maintain heavy vehicle (HV) mobile plant equipment to the defined standards and procedures to ensure equipment availability targets are achieved. You will ensure adequate scoping of corrective work to facilitate the work management process.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

• Scheduled and breakdown maintenance, inspections, diagnosis, and repair to all areas of mobile plant, including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Conduct maintenance activities in an underground environment to a fleet of Sandvik and Epiroc drill rigs, CAT underground trucks and loaders and ancillary mobile equipment.
• Ensure adequate scoping of corrective work to facilitate the work management process.
• Use of computerised maintenance systems (SAP).

About the Candidate

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Experience working as a Diesel Fitter on underground drilling equipment (Sandvik DD421, Epiroc Simba LC6 and MC6) in a mining environment.
• Previous experience working on underground load and haul mobile fleet including CAT R1700,R2900, R3000 LHD and AD63, AD60/AD45 trucks
• Hydraulic fault finding experience
• Ability to thrive in a team environment and work with safety at the forefront at all times.

Qualifications for this position are:

• Trade qualified Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter / Mechanic (Australian recognised).
• Class C or higher Drivers Licence
• HRWL Dogging, Rigging and Forklift (desirable)
• Current First Aid / CPR or willing to obtain.
