Job summary

WorkPac is recruiting a diesel fitter for Byerwen Mine in Queensland's Bowen Basin. This permanent role involves maintenance, servicing and fault-finding on a diverse fleet of heavy mobile mining equipment, with a 7/7 roster, $82.80 per hour, and camp facilities.

You will perform preventative and breakdown maintenance, diagnose faults and complete maintenance records while following site safety procedures to support equipment availability.

Qualifications

• Coal mining experience is essential.
• Diesel Fitter in mining environment required.
• Current Coal Board Medical (CBM).
• Current Standard 11 (S11) induction.
• Relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification.

Job description

Our client is a well-established mining services contractor delivering critical maintenance and production support at Byerwen Mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. With a strong focus on safety, reliability and operational excellence, they offer experienced tradespeople the opportunity to join a skilled team working across some of the industry’s largest mobile mining equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Diesel Fitter looking for a long-term permanent position in the coal mining industry. You’ll work across a diverse fleet of heavy mobile equipment while enjoying a 7/7 roster, $82.80 per hour, 6 weeks annual leave, camp accommodation and excellent site facilities.

What You Will Be Doing:

Carrying out mechanical maintenance, servicing, fault finding and repairs on large-scale mobile mining equipment.

Working across a diverse fleet including: Excavators: Liebherr 9800, 9400 and 9350; Hitachi 3600. Dozers: CAT D9, D10 and D11. Graders: CAT 24M and Komatsu 955. Loaders: Komatsu 600 and 900. Mechanical Dump Trucks: CAT 789 and CAT 793.Electric Dump Trucks: Hitachi EH5000 and CAT 794.

Conducting preventative and breakdown maintenance.

Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing repairs to minimise equipment downtime.

Working closely with the maintenance and production teams to maintain equipment availability.

Completing maintenance records and documentation.

Following all site safety procedures and contributing to a strong safety culture.

What You Will Need:

Previous coal mining experience is essential.

Previous experience as a Diesel Fitter / Heavy Mobile Plant Mechanic in a mining environment.

Current Coal Board Medical (CBM).

Current Standard 11 (S11) induction.

Relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification.

Experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile mining equipment.

Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
