Job summary

ZWF Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter to join the team in the Fraser Coast Region. The role involves field service and workshop work, with autonomous tasks from diagnostics to complete rebuilds, delivering high-quality service.

You’ll report to the Field Service Supervisor and enjoy independence with a supportive, skilled team. The position offers a 7 days on/7 days off lifestyle roster and a competitive hourly rate plus penalties and superannuation.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in mobile plant or heavy diesel mechanics is required.
• Experience in field service for construction or heavy equipment preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and technical skills are essential.
• Ability to work autonomously with excellent time management.
• Customer-first mindset and good communication skills are important.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
• OEM experience is valued but not essential.
• Air conditioning and auto electrical experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service and repair construction and earthmoving equipment.
• Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on heavy trucks.
• Handle preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
• Conduct in-field breakdown repairs and fault finding.
• Complete machine rebuilds and component change outs across the fleet.
• Ensure work complies with site procedures and safety requirements.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter to join our team, based in the Fraser Coast Region.

In this autonomous, customer-focused role, you’ll take ownership of your tasks from diagnostics to complete rebuilds—delivering high-quality service in field and in the workshop.

Reporting to the Field Service Supervisor, you’ll enjoy independence in your day-to-day work backed by a supportive and experienced team.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, service and repair Hitachi & Cat construction and earthmoving equipment and Kenworth, Volvo, UD and Hino on road trucks.

Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance activities on a wide range of Hitachi & Cat heavy earthmoving machinery and Kenworth, Volvo, UD and Hino on road trucks.

Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing

Conduct in-field breakdowns repairs and fault finding

Complete machine rebuilds and component change outs across the fleet of earthmoving equipment, LVs and truck combinations

Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site procedures and safety requirements

About You

Relevant trade qualification (Mobile Plant / Heavy Diesel Mechanic or equivalent)

Proven experience in field service within the construction, earthmoving or heavy equipment industries

Strong diagnostic and technical skills

Ability to work autonomously with excellent time management

A customer-first mindset with strong communication skills

Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement

OEM experience highly regarded but not essential

Air con and Auto Electrical experience desirable
