Job summary
The Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in Melbourne seeks a proactive Diabetes Nurse Educator to join the Allied Health and Education Services team. The role delivers client education in clinics and group programs, trains health professionals, and supports health promotion and research.
Based primarily at our Prahran site, some travel within the Melbourne Metropolitan area and wider Australia may be required for consultations and training.
Qualifications
- Accreditation as a Credentialled Diabetes Nurse Educator with experience providing clinical support and education for people with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes preferred.
- Division 1 Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and postgraduate certificate in Diabetes Education.
- Experience with insulin pump therapy and CGM technology preferred.
- Ability to deliver group education programs or health professional training face-to-face or online.
Responsibilities
- Conduct client individual and group education sessions and programs as rostered by management.
- Develop rapport with clients and provide patient-centred education to support self-management.
- Maintain accurate records and participate in data entry for reporting.
- Supervise students and contribute to team development within an interdisciplinary setting.
