Job summary

Vault Cloud is an Australian sovereign cloud provider delivering secure, scalable cloud capability across national hyperscale infrastructure. We seek a DevOps Engineer for a 6-month engagement in Sydney or Canberra, focused on automating cloud infrastructure and secure CI/CD pipelines.

You will design, deploy, and secure pipelines using Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes, write Bash/Python scripts, and act as Tier-4 escalation for complex issues.

Qualifications

• Proven elite DevOps specialist who can hit the ground running on day one.
• Advanced, practical expertise engineering CI/CD pipelines and scaling containerized workloads with Kubernetes, Terraform and Ansible.
• Production-grade Linux system engineering with automation scripts in Bash or Python.
• Strong understanding of core networking and OSI/TCP/IP models.
• Experience in high-security, compliant environments with modern cloud security patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and secure automated pipelines and architect deterministic infrastructure environments using Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
• Author automation scripts (Bash, Python), manage code quality via Git, and deliver runbooks and blueprints aligned with sovereign cloud security.
• Act as Tier-4 escalation point, troubleshooting complex network, Linux and platform issues to keep production resilient.
• Partner with product squads and customers to translate requirements into secure solution patterns.

We are hunting for a brilliant DevOps Engineer for a high-priority, 6-month engagement, which will either be based in our Sydney or Canberra office. To align with our infrastructure requirements, this role is strictly open to candidates currently based within Australia. We aren't looking for someone to shadow a team; we need an autonomous engineering force who loves solving real architectural puzzles at hyperscale. If you pride yourself on your ability to cleanly automate complex cloud infrastructure, orchestrate containers at a tier-4 level, and execute flawlessly under tight timelines, we have the perfect sandbox for you.

You will:

• Design, deploy, and secure automated pipelines and architect deterministic infrastructure environments using Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
• Author high-quality automation scripts (Bash, Python), manage code quality via Git, and deliver technical runbooks and blueprints that align with sovereign cloud security standards.
• Act as the ultimate Tier-4 technical escalation point, deep-diving into complex network, Linux, and platform errors to unblock operations teams and keep production infrastructure resilient.
• Partner with our product squads and customers to translate requirements into secure solution patterns, advising on technical feasibility.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following:

• A proven track record as an elite DevOps specialist who can hit the ground running on day one without needing a lengthy ramp-up period.
• Advanced, practical expertise engineering complex CI/CD pipelines and scaling containerized workloads using Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Production-grade system engineering skills in Linux ecosystems, backed by the ability to write clean, advanced automation scripts in Bash or Python.
• An airtight architectural understanding of core networking services, protocols, and the OSI/TCP-IP models of network layers.
• Prior experience operating in high-security, compliant, or highly regulated environments, with a foundational understanding of modern cloud security patterns.
• The grit and professional maturity required to navigate a fast-paced, expanding scale-up environment where rapid execution and practical problem-solving are paramount.
