Job summary

UNSW is seeking a Development Officer in Foundations & Corporate Philanthropy (FCP) to advance philanthropic fundraising strategies within the Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement. You will cultivate, solicit and steward national and international trusts and foundations, working with academic leaders to secure substantial gifts.

The role reports to the Head of Development (FCP), with no direct reports, and focuses on building sustainable relationships and delivering funding aligned

Qualifications

  • Experience in fundraising and donor relations, preferably in higher education.
  • Ability to articulate a theory of change and secure major gifts.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with ability to present complex information.
  • Proven organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and gift tax considerations.
  • Experience influencing within a large, complex organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Support philanthropic strategies to meet fundraising priorities and revenue targets.
  • Manage a portfolio of ~100 trust and foundation prospects with $100,000+ commitments.
  • Identify opportunities, develop proposals, and build donor relationships.
  • Prepare EOIs, proposals, reports, and cultivation materials for donors.
  • Develop cultivation and stewardship plans for prospects and donors.
  • Provide fundraising advice to stakeholders and align with university goals.
  • Create annual work plans for prospect engagement and fundraising targets.
