Development Engineer — Land Development & Subdivisions

Job summary

Public Sector People is seeking an experienced Development Engineer to join a local government client in Geelong on an initial three-month contract. You will support land development and subdivision projects, collaborating with planning teams, developers and consultants.

Key duties include coordinating planning input for land development, providing engineering advice, responding to inquiries, supervising construction activities, and contributing to asset management and project reporting.

Qualifications

• Local government experience is a must.
• At least 3 years' experience in a Development Engineering role within a local council.
• Strong understanding of subdivision assessments, development referrals and civil infrastructure standards.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating engineering input into planning matters relating to land development and subdivision applications, working closely with the Planning team.
• Providing engineering and technical advice on Council projects and subdivisional works.
• Responding to developer and consultant enquiries and helping resolve land development and subdivision matters.
• Supervising and auditing construction activities associated with land development and subdivisions.
• Liaising with engineering coordinators to support the design, supervision and construction of works in line with approved plans, industry standards and budget estimates.
• Assisting with tender specifications, funding submissions and project progress reporting, including final claims to government departments and funding bodies.
• Contributing to asset management systems and the ongoing improvement of team processes and procedures.
• Responding to public enquiries and helping deliver positive outcomes for the community.
