Job summary

Melton City Council invites expressions of interest for the Development Contributions Coordinator in the City Growth and Development department. You will lead a small team to develop, manage and maintain Council’s Development Contributions/Infrastructure Contributions Framework to ensure financial sustainability and timely provision of community and development infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning, Project Management, Economics, Financial Accounting, Social Planning or related discipline with relevant experience.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or extensive/specialist experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Strong understanding of urban planning in growth areas and infrastructure delivery.
  • Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and negotiating outcomes.

  • Ensure financial sustainability and timely provision of community and development infrastructure.

Job description

Band 8 - Salary Range $123,831 to $138,629 per annum + 11.5% Super + ADO

Salary offered will depend on level of skills and experience.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual within the City Growth and Development department.

We need an inspired Leader to join our supportive team as Development Contributions Coordinator - where you'll lead a small team to develop, manage and maintain Council’s Development Contributions/Infrastructure Contributions Framework to ensure that it is financially sustainable and results in the efficient and timely provision of required community and development infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves exposure to all areas of development/infrastructure Contributions, including input into preparation of precinct structure plans, assessment of planning permits and works-in-kind negotiations, prioritising the delivery of infrastructure projects, and monitoring the provision of development contributions to enable community facilities and transport infrastructure to be provided when required.

The position will also lead the development and implementation of new policies and procedures across the organisation under the Council’s Development Contributions and Infrastructure Contributions Implementation Framework.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning, Project Management, Economics, Financial Accounting, Social Planning or related discipline with relevant experience plus post graduate qualifications or lesser formal qualifications with extensive and diverse, or intensive specialist, experience.
  • Strong understanding of urban planning in a growth area context and the challenges of infrastructure delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills and have proven experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and motivating others to achieve agreed goals.
  • Strong aptitude for financial risk management, problem solving and negotiation. You will also possess relationship building skills, including the ability to identify stakeholder interests and gain cooperation from a wide range of people.
