Job summary

Mackay Regional Council is seeking a motivated Development Technical Officer to join our Development Technical Team and contribute to shaping the future of Mackay. Be part of a collaborative team focused on delivering quality planning and engineering services.

You will provide timely planning advice, manage survey plan endorsements, and support infrastructure charging and debt recovery, while maintaining registers and aiding audits.

Qualifications

• Experience in local government or development industry, particularly in planning administration, surveying, plumbing administration, or legal environments.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Curiosity in understanding the development industry and customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely planning advice and support to the development industry, community members, and internal stakeholders in various aspects of Development Planning and Engineering Program operations.
• Manage the survey plan endorsement process to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Assist with aspects of infrastructure charging, development bonds and debt recovery processes.
• Maintain registers for infrastructure agreements, street trees and infrastructure charges.
• Support condition compliance and audit processes.
• Key point of contact for enquiries across Development Planning and Engineering Program and other internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to a culture that values teamwork, workplace health, safety, and wellbeing.
