Job summary

Google seeks a Senior Cyber Defense Engineer to enable and optimize the client Security Operations Center. You will sustain SIEM/SOAR capabilities, develop detection content, and automate daily CDC tasks to improve incident detection and response.

Collaboration with Mandiant Architects, Analysts, and client IT resources is essential to deliver effective security outcomes. Strong scripting and incident response experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Cybersecurity or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years experience in detection engineering, SOAR automation, or related role.
• 3+ years experience with SOC/CSIRT or incident response teams.
• Experience tuning and creating detections using SIEM/EDR/NDR tools.
• Scripting SIEM queries using Python or PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Identify challenges in customer Cyber Defense Centers and plan improvements, executing plans to completion.
• Advise on technologies relied upon by the client CDC, CSIRT, and SOC.
• Create/modify SIEM use cases and SOAR playbooks (Python).
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to drive resolution of security issues.
• Provide expertise for SIEM, SOAR, and related SOC technologies in incident response.
