Job summary

King Truss in Caloundra, Sunshine Coast, is seeking a Detailer to convert rough concepts into precise technical plans, shop drawings and 3D models. You will create accurate fabrication drawings, determine materials, check codes and update revisions to support efficient production.

Responsibilities

• Create precise fabrication, assembly and shop drawings using AutoCAD, Revit or BIM.

• Review rough sketches with engineers to resolve clashes.
• Develop detailed 3D models to detect model clashes and mitigate delays.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and project managers to translate design intent.
• Ensure final layouts comply with local building codes and project specs.

From our base in Caloundra on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, we deliver our high-quality products to construction sites across the region using our own fleet of crane trucks. Our team of experts is dedicated to ensuring that your materials arrive on time and in perfect condition, so you can focus on building and completing your project without delay. We are seeking highly qualified Detailer to join our team. As a Detailer you will convert rough design concepts into precise technical plans, shop drawings, and 3D models.

Key duties include creating accurate measurements, checking industry codes, and updating drawing revisions. The role includes but is not limited to: Create and prepare precise fabrication, assembly, and shop drawings using software like AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM technology including specifications for materials required, detailed measurements and installation instructions for building contractors

Determine the appropriate material for each task based on design plans, and ensures that all designs meet relevant standards and regulations Perform calculations to estimate the quantity of materials, exact dimensions, and weight limits required for production teams to complete a project Review rough sketches and collaborate with engineers to resolve structural or mechanical clashes

Develop detailed 3D models to detect model clashes to mitigate construction delays and site rectification costs Collaborate with Architects, engineers and project managers to ensure the accurate translation of designs into construction plans Ensure all final layouts match local building codes, safety rules, and project specifications

To be considered for this role, you must have the following:

Trade qualified Strong working knowledge of CAD, BIM, or specialised detailing tools

Ability to read complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering notes High accuracy in plotting dimensions to prevent costly manufacturing or construction errors Strong spatial visualisation and the ability to spot design clashes before manufacturing or construction begins

Ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete assigned tasks Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, and project teams Excellent reporting skills

Self-motivated, organised, punctual and reliable Must have great work ethics
