Job summary

Newman Senior High School is recruiting for a permanent full-time Design and Technology teacher. The role focuses on Metalwork and Woodwork with delivery aligned to the WA Curriculum, aiming to foster practical skills, creativity and problem solving in a differentiated classroom.

You will work within well-resourced workshops and a supportive team, contributing to student engagement, pathways and a positive learning environment in the Pilbara region.

Qualifications

• hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
• apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

Responsibilities

• teach secondary Design and Technology, with a focus on Metalwork and Woodwork, and knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum.
• deliver a differentiated curriculum that builds practical skills, creativity and problem-solving, while maintaining high expectations and safe workshop practices.
• deliver certificate courses, or willingness to obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
