Job summary

Icon is seeking an experienced Construction Design Manager to lead design activities across multiple projects. You will work closely with project managers, architects, engineers and contractors to ensure timely, cost-efficient delivery in line with project specifications and regulatory standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 7+ years of design management experience with head contractors on large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage design activities across multiple projects ensuring compliance with specs and regulations.
  • Collaborate with PMs, architects, engineers and contractors for timely delivery.
  • Develop and maintain design schedules and budgets; report progress to senior management.
  • Review project specifications and contracts; identify design requirements and constraints.
  • Ensure up-to-date design records and manage the design process from development to approval.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled design manager to join our growing construction team. As a Construction Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing all design activities across multiple construction projects, ensuring that all design work is completed in accordance with project specifications, contracts, and applicable regulations. You collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.


Responsibilities


  • Manage and oversee design activities across multiple construction projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations.

  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors for timely, cost-effective project delivery.

  • Develop and maintain project design schedules and budgets, providing regular updates on progress and potential issues to senior management.

  • Review project specifications and contracts, identifying design requirements and constraints, and resolving design-related issues.

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date project design records and documents, and manage the design process, including development, review, and approval.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management or engineering

  • Current experience working for a head contractor

  • 7 + years of experience in design management in the construction industry

  • Experience working on largescale construction projects from $100m

  • Ideally have experience across residential, apartments or social housing projects

  • Must have previous experience working for a Builder / Head Contractor

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Knowledge of construction project management tools and software

  • Understanding of construction contracts and regulatory requirements

  • Familiarity with building codes and standards
