• Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Coordinator in commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of design coordination, construction methodology, and consultant management.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and influence project outcomes.
• Solid knowledge of NCC, Australian Standards, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with Procore, Aconex, Bluebeam, AutoCAD (or similar).

Versatile Group is seeking an experienced Design Manager to take ownership of the design delivery for a landmark $200 million mixed-use development located on Sydney’s city fringe.

About the Role

As Design Manager, you will lead and manage the design process for a major mixed-use development, ensuring all design documentation is coordinated, buildable, commercially sound, and delivered in line with programme objectives.

You will work closely with consultants, subcontractors, project managers, and senior leadership to drive collaboration, resolve complex design challenges, and ensure design excellence across all stages of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design management process from concept through to completion
• Manage design programmes, consultant deliverables, and documentation
• Coordinate architects, engineers, authorities, and specialist consultants
• Chair design coordination meetings and drive timely decision-making
• Review design documentation for constructability, compliance, quality, and commercial outcomes
• Manage RFIs, design changes, approvals, and consultant deliverables
• Identify and mitigate design risks throughout project delivery
• Drive value engineering opportunities while maintaining design intent
• Ensure compliance with NCC, Australian Standards, and planning requirements
• Collaborate closely with construction teams to ensure seamless design-to-delivery transition

About You

You will bring:

• Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Coordinator in commercial construction
• Strong understanding of design coordination, construction methodology, and consultant management
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and influence project outcomes
• Strong knowledge of NCC, Australian Standards, and compliance frameworks
• Experience with Procore, Aconex, Bluebeam, AutoCAD (or similar platforms)
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
