Job summary

Paragon Engineering in Australia is seeking a proactive Design Manager to join our team. You will act as the key interface between internal design teams (geotechnical, drafting, structural) and external stakeholders to define scope, objectives and deliverables, ensuring client requirements are translated into quality designs.

You will coordinate schedules, monitor progress, supervise project documents, and oversee budgets and invoicing to align with project goals.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or Co-ordinator within Australia, preferably infra assets and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Strong knowledge of basic design principles, esp. in structural and/or geotechnical projects.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with project teams, clients and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities to keep project docs up-to-date and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to technical challenges.
  • Strong technical reporting skills and proficiency in Engineering and Drafting software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and project management software.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise between internal design teams (design, geotechnical, structural) and external stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables and ensure client requirements are translated into designs.
  • Coordinate project schedules and track progress, attend project meetings and provide updates on milestones.
  • Conduct inspections and assessments of infrastructure assets, including bridges and wastewater facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare detailed inspection/condition assessment reports, analyses and recommendations.
  • Oversee control of all project documents, including emails, progress reports and technical documentation.
  • Monitor project budgets and invoicing, reporting on financial performance to align with goals.
  • Assist with project compliance and quality assurance across disciplines.

The Role:

Due to continued growth, we are searching for a Design Manager to join our team in a newly created role—offering the opportunity to shape internal systems, streamline processes, and make an impact on project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements

About You

Tobe considered for the role, you must have

  • 4+years of experience as a Project Engineer or Co-ordinator withina design office or consultancy environment within Australia,preferably involving infrastructure assets and/ormultidisciplinary projects. More experienced candidates areencouraged to apply.
  • Adegree in Civil/Structural Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Strongknowledge of basic design principles, especially in structuraland/or geotechnical projects.
  • Excellentcommunication skills, with the ability to facilitate effectivecommunication among project teams, clients, and externalstakeholders to ensure alignment and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Strongorganisational and switchtasking abilities, ensuring that allproject documentation is up-to-date and deadlines are met.
  • Demonstratedproblem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressingtechnical challenges.
  • Strongtechnical reporting skills as well as knowledge of Engineeringand Drafting software
  • Proficiencyin MS Office, including Word, Excel, and project management software.
