Job summary

PCL Constructors Pacific Rim PTY Ltd. in Sydney, NSW, seeks a Design Engineer to lead detailed solar PV system designs, including layouts, diagrams, and equipment specifications.

You’ll work with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure design feasibility and project alignment. The role requires 2–4 years in solar PV design, proficiency with AutoCAD, PVsyst and MS Office, and knowledge of Australian standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
• 2 to 4 years of experience in solar PV design, preferably within an EPC environment.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, and MS Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of solar PV system components, grid connection requirements, and electrical design principles.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Australian standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the preparation of detailed solar PV system designs including layout drawings, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with project requirements.
• Review and validate design documents for accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
• Manage design timelines and deliverables to meet project milestones.
• Liaise with external consultants, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure design approvals and certifications.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 5033, international standards and National Electrical Rules).
• Support the preparation of technical documentation for tenders and project proposals
• Assist in the development and implementation of design processes and quality control procedures.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
