Job summary

BMD Group in New South Wales is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our NSW team. You’ll work with the Design Manager and delivery teams to manage design interfaces and support delivery of complex Design & Construct projects.

About The Role

At BMD, we’re Australia's leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business. With a growing pipeline of major infrastructure projects across transport, water and renewable energy sectors, we’re looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join our NSW team. Working closely with our Design Manager and project delivery teams, you’ll play a critical role in the management of design and construction interfaces, supporting the successful delivery of complex Design & Construct projects across New South Wales.

You Will

• Manage and coordinate design delivery from external consultants
• Support project teams through all phases of project development and delivery
• Facilitate collaboration between construction teams, clients and design partners
• Monitor design risks, opportunities and innovations
• Manage RFIs, design queries, variation registers and design change processes
• Facilitate design meetings and stakeholder coordination
• Assist with tender submissions and project pursuits
• Contribute to design management best practice across the business
• Provide technical input into constructability, methodology and project planning activities

To be successful, you will bring experience delivering major civil infrastructure projects within Australia, ideally across one or more of the following sectors:

• Transport infrastructure projects for Transport for NSW
• Water infrastructure projects for Sydney Water
• Renewable energy or wind farm developments

You Will Also Possess

• A degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong understanding of Design & Construct project delivery
• Experience managing design consultants and multidisciplinary project teams
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Strong commercial awareness and risk management capability
• The ability to identify opportunities for innovation and improved project outcomes
• Experience working within complex infrastructure environments and fast-paced project teams
