Job summary

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia is seeking a Design Engineer to join our national Engineering Division. You will design new systems and improve existing designs, produce drawings and reports, and manage project risk across heavy equipment projects.

Travel to sites for testing and installations is required. The role requires a 5+ year design engineering background, proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) with FEA, and strong skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a design engineering role.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) with FEA experience.
• Technical proficiency in mechanical, hydraulic and/or electrical circuit design and schematics.
• Mechanical design capability with strong diagnostics and problem-solving skills.
• Experience applying engineering calculations and interpreting Australian and/or International Standards.
• Knowledge of welded structures and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team.

You will work at the cutting edge of heavy equipment design, creating, modifying, and improving engineering solutions for some of Australia's most demanding applications. • Hands-on experience developing solutions (measuring, fitting, and testing)
• Project Management qualifications or experience
• Welding certification, 6Sigma/Lean Manufacturing exposure
• EA registration/membership or Mechatronic RPEQ
• Experience with PDM Drawing Management Systems
