Job summary

Invenio is seeking an experienced Design and Release Engineer (Chassis Frames) to join Ford’s Product Development team in Geelong. You will manage design and release across programs, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to hit time and cost targets.

You will ensure prototype builds and final production release, while leading APQP activities and ensuring robust design across interfaces and systems. Domestic and international travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant industry experience.
• Experience with CAE software codes (Abaqus, Nastran, Hyperworks, Ansa).
• Willingness to travel internationally for supplier visits and launches.

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and self-motivated Product Development Chassis Frames Engineer for a contract role placed with Ford’s Product Development team based in Geelong.

In this role you will be working in a dynamic global environment managing the design and development of vehicle components and developing designs to meet system and vehicle attribute targets. You will be part of a team that is responsible for the selection of suppliers, development of program work plans, and completion of gateway deliverables to maintain program costs and timing.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead both the design and release of chassis frames across multiple programs to ensure quality, on-time and on-cost delivery to GPDS requirements.
  
• Ensure robust delivery of chassis frames from concept through to physical prototype builds and final production release.
  
• Own the PD elements of the APQP process and ensure proper communication with special characteristics, not only to lead launch suppliers and plants but to all sites and manufacturing locations.
  
• Deliver design compatibility between all interfacing systems.
  
• Lead engineering processes like BOM sign off, FMEA and quality control plans, design reviews with suppliers, Finance, Purchasing, CAE, Quality, Manufacturing, interfacing commodities and attributes, to support design deliverables.
  

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related field

• Experience with CAE software codes such as: Abaqus, Nastran, Vendure FDynam and FLOW, LS-Dyna, Pre-processors Hyperworks or Ansa would also be useful.
