Job summary

Melbourne Girls Grammar in South Yarra, onsite, seeks an experienced leader to join the Boarding House as Deputy Director of Boarding, reporting to the Director of Boarding. You will support day-to-day operations, provide pastoral care, and lead a dedicated team of boarding staff to create a safe, supportive home away from home for our students.

The role involves fostering a positive boarding culture, coordinating transport and admin tasks, and collaborating with families, staff, and the day

Qualifications

• Victorian Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) or VIT registration or able to obtain clearance
• Tertiary qualification in adolescent health and wellbeing (e.g., community health, youth work)
• Demonstrated capacity to build meaningful, respectful relationships with students, colleagues and families
• Pastoral care experience, preferably in a boarding or school setting
• Strong organisational and administrative skills; ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Willingness to drive the School minibus with a full Victorian driver licence
• HLTAID009 CPR and HLTAID011 First Aid qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day oversight of Boarding House operations
• Act as the first point of contact in the absence of the Director of Boarding
• Manage student leave, medical needs, and behavioural expectations
• Collaborate with the Director of Boarding on community events, parent communications, and student support strategies
• Assist with transport coordination, logistics, and administrative duties
• Participate in the on-call duty roster
• Work collaboratively with the staff in the day School to support the needs of all boarding students
