Job summary

NSW Health’s Northern Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Deputy Director of Aboriginal Health to lead strategic Aboriginal health initiatives and support the Executive Director, Aboriginal Health and Workforce, NSLHD.

The role focuses on governance of the Aboriginal Health Service, cultural integrity, policy development, and driving system-level actions to improve Aboriginal health outcomes within NSLHD, reporting on KPI targets and embedding culturally safe practices.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in a health-related field and/or equivalent experience in health management.
• Demonstrated ability to use data/evidence to inform planning, development, monitoring and evaluation of Aboriginal health initiatives.
• Knowledge of legislative and policy frameworks for health policy issues impacting Aboriginal communities.

Responsibilities

• Support and advise the Executive Director, Aboriginal Health and Workforce to influence strategic direction.
• Oversee governance and operational oversight of the NSLHD Aboriginal Health Service.
• Lead cultural integrity and responsiveness strategies across the service.
• Drive planning, policy development and KPI targets with MoH and Aboriginal health plans.
• Review Aboriginal Health Impact Statements and ensure compliance with organisational requirements.
• Embed culturally safe practices across NSLHD through collaboration with directorates and facilities.
