Job summary

The University of Sydney seeks a Deputy Dean (Research) to lead the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences research portfolio. The role partners with the Dean to advance multidisciplinary excellence and to translate research into impact.

It requires an accomplished track record in securing research funding and strategic leadership across large teams and centres. The appointment is a five-year fixed-term, with a professorial appointment retained at the conclusion, and is designed to position FASS

Qualifications

• The appointee will hold a doctoral level qualification in a FASS discipline and have an excellent track record in research and research funding.
• Demonstrated leadership in research strategy, investment and capability development at scale.
• Proven ability to drive interdisciplinary impact and forge partnerships across academia, industry and government.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Faculty's research agenda and oversee research centres and infrastructure.
• Drive implementation of key research initiatives and ensure alignment with University objectives.
• Identify opportunities for funding, collaboration, translation and impact while maintaining financial sustainability.
