Job summary

Jobtailor in Sydney is seeking a Store Manager to lead a 20+ person team in a high-volume retail environment, ensuring safety, engagement and outstanding customer service.

You will oversee daily operations, stock accuracy, merchandising, roster planning and KPI performance, while coordinating with Merchandising, Store Leadership and Health & Safety teams to deliver the service promise.

Job description

• Manage ongoing daily operations, sales and high-volume stock management within the specialist department


• Work closely with fellow Department Managers across Service, Inside the Home, Builders, and Lifestyles & Garden


• Report directly to the Operations Manager and Complex Manager


• Lead a team of 20+ team members and maintain an engaged and safe work environment


• Perform duty manager responsibilities, including opening and closing the store on weekdays and weekends


• Build team capability in Best Experience, Safety Culture and Compliance


• Manage team engagement, performance and recognition


• Create rosters and strategically plan team coverage to deliver the service promise


• Drive department sales through strong merchandising and monitoring key metrics


• Action customer feedback to improve the end-to-end customer experience


• Own department stock accuracy, including adjustments, replenishment discipline and loss prevention processes


• Monitor and measure customer service levels


• Liaise with Merchandising, Store Leadership, and Health and Safety teams


• Develop strong relationships with suppliers

Requirements

• Must be age 15 or over to apply


• Previous experience leading teams in the retail industry or a large, high-volume customer-focused organisation


• Experience leading teams with a focus on safety and wellbeing and specialist products preferred


• Strong leadership and influencing skills


• Ability to lead and inspire a large team of 20+


• Ability to champion a safe and secure environment and ensure compliance with policies and procedures


• Experience opening and closing a store and supporting smooth trade across weekdays and weekends


• Ability to build team capability through coaching, clear expectations, performance conversations and recognition


• Ability to roster and strategically plan a team


• Knowledge of merchandising, sales performance, stock accuracy, availability and loss prevention


• Ability to understand KPIs and exceed customer expectations


• Ability to work a minimum of 1 in 3 weekends and some public holidays


• Background checks may be required, including police, employment, medical and qualification checks
