About the roles

GEO Healthcare provides primary healthcare to men in Prisons across Victoria.

The Dentist will work to their full scope of clinical practice in the provision of oral health services, in accordance with GEO Healthcare policies and procedures and legislative and contractual requirements.

Opportunities exist for Part Time, 1 day per week (currently Mondays), at Hopkins & Barwon Correctional Centre, with opportunity to work additional days at other locations nearby.

• Ensure dental services are provided in accordance withlegislation, standards, GEO Healthcare policy and procedures andcontractual requirements. (D)
• Supervise the triaging patient referrals for oral health services by theDental Assistant to ensure patients are schedule for a dentalappointment, which is based on clinical need and contractualtimeframes. (D)
• Develop and implement oral hygiene therapy plans for patients. (D/OHT)
• Ensure Oral Hygiene Therapy is provided in accordance with legislation, standards, GEO Healthcare policy and procedures and contractual requirements. (OHT)
• Refer patients to a dentist when clinically indicated. (OHT)
• Maintain the dental suite within a GEO Healthcare location consistentwith quality efficiency, effectiveness and safe dental practice. (DA)
• Co-ordinates all referrals for oral health services, which includesscreening, triage and scheduling of appointments which meets clinicalacuity and contractual timeframes. (DA)
• Pre-set materials and equipment for the required for dentalprocedures. (DA)

The ideal candidate will have:

• Qualification in relevant General Denstristy Discipline
• AHPRA registration as a general Dentist without restriction

Other Requirements of the role:

• Ionizing Radiation Apparatus Use License in Victoria for Intra-Oral Radiography (License to provide dental panoramic radiography is desirable).
• Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
• Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
