Job summary

West Moreton Health is seeking a Detail Assistant to join our dental team across Ipswich and the region. You will provide high standard of assistance during patient treatments by Oral Health Service staff.

The role requires knowledge of dental terminology and procedures, teamwork, and strong organisational and communication skills; Certificate III in Dental Assisting is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of dental terminology and surgery procedures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant equipment, instruments, materials, medicaments, and procedures including safety procedures and WHS regulations.
• Working knowledge of acts, regulations and standards relating to dentistry.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-skilled team.
• Ability to coordinate procedures related to the oral health environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high standard of assistance during patient treatments by Oral Health Service staff.
• Assist with setup, instrument handling and infection control in the dental operatory.
• Support coordination of procedures and patient flow within the oral health environment.

The role of Detail Assistant will work as part of the dental team and provide high standard of assistance as needed in the treatment of patients by Oral Health Service staff and provide efficient and appropriate services.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

• Demonstrated knowledge of dental terminology and surgery procedures
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant equipment, instruments, materials, medicaments, and procedures including safety procedures, Material Safety Data Sheets and Workplace Health and Safety regulations relating to the dental facility
• Working knowledge of the various acts, regulations and all relevant Standards that relate to dentistry
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-skilled team
• Ability to effectively co-ordinate procedures related to the oral health environment
• High level interpersonal skills, organisational skills and communication skills

Mandatory Requirements

• Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
• Possession of Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent.
