Job summary

SC Family Dental Clinic is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to join our Rowville practice on a part-time basis, supporting clinicians and ensuring a smooth patient experience.

You will assist during procedures, maintain infection control, manage rooms and records, and support reception tasks. The role offers flexible hours, opportunities for professional development, and competitive remuneration.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognised Dental Assistant qualification (optional).
• Experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting (preferred but not essential).
• Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures and protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and infection control and sterilisation standards.
• Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Proficiency with dental software and computer systems (advantageous).
• Current certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Assisting dentists during clinical procedures by passing instruments, managing suction, and providing direct chairside support
• Preparing treatment rooms, sterilising instruments, and maintaining infection control protocols in accordance with dental standards
• Taking and processing dental radiographs (X-rays) in compliance with radiation safety guidelines
• Welcoming patients, managing appointment scheduling, and maintaining patient records with accuracy and confidentiality
• Educating patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions
• Assisting with reception duties, including patient check-ins, payments, and general administrative tasks
• Supporting the dental team in maintaining a clean, organised, and professional clinical environment
• Preparing materials and equipment for procedures and ensuring adequate stock levels
