Job summary

HCF is seeking a Dental Assistant to join our Campbelltown Dental Center. You will work with dentists and the Practice Manager to ensure high-quality patient care and smooth daily operations in Macarthur Square Shopping Centre.

This permanent full-time role (Mon-Fri) focuses on assisting with chair-side duties, maintaining infection control, and coordinating patient flow while supporting practice administration and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous dental knowledge and experience.
• Neat appearance and sound personal hygiene.
• High level of confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
• Initiative and common sense in daily tasks.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Reception experience or willingness to be cross-trained.
• Qualifications in radiography, sterilising, and/or first aid.
• Certificate III in Dental Assisting

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical assistance to dentists, ensuring patient comfort and efficiency throughout their visit.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised clinical environment in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Monitor patient day sheets, prepare for patient lists, and accommodate emergencies where possible.
• Coordinate patient flow, including escorting, settling, and preparing patients for treatment.
• Assist with chair-side duties: instrument and material setup, procedure support, data entry, and radiograph development.
• Uphold infection control standards and maintain sterilisation cycles.
• Report any fraudulent behaviour or activity as required.
• Comply with Work Health and Safety legislation, report hazards promptly.
• Participate in meetings, training, and health and safety activities.

Job description

As a Dental Assistant, you will work alongside our Dentists and Practice Manager to ensure high quality patient care, compliance with our Dental Quality Management System, and the smooth running of day to day operations of our Campbelltown Dental Center

Please note this is a Permanent Full time (Mon-Fri) Dental Assistant position based in our Campbelltown Dental center located in the Macarthur Square Shopping Centre

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical assistance to dentists, ensuring patient comfort and efficiency throughout their visit.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised clinical environment in accordance with HCF policies and procedures.
• Monitor patient day sheets, prepare for patient lists, and accommodate emergencies where possible.
• Coordinate patient flow, including escorting, settling, and preparing patients for treatment.
• Assist with chair-side duties: instrument and material set-up, procedure support, mixing materials, data entry, and radiograph development.
• Uphold infection control standards, manage surgery changeover and cleaning, and perform equipment and stock maintenance.
• Process and sterilise instruments, maintain stock levels, and validate sterilisation cycles.
• Report any fraudulent behaviour or activity as required.
• Comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, policies, and procedures. Report hazards, near misses, and injuries promptly.
• Participate in meetings, training, and health and safety activities.

• Efficient management of handpieces, stock, and materials.
• Satisfactory assistance and competency in all dental assistant duties.
