Job summary

Crystalbrook Riley in Cairns is seeking a Demi Chef to join a vibrant culinary team. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will prepare, cook and plate dishes with care, delivering consistent flavour, quality and presentation during a full-time 38-hour week.

You will help keep your section organised, support junior chefs and uphold high hygiene and safety standards, while minimising waste and contributing to responsible luxury.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a Demi Chef or Commis Chef in a professional kitchen.
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety practices.
• The ability to organise your preparation and maintain quality throughout a busy service.
• Strong attention to flavour, presentation and consistency.
• Clear communication skills and a willingness to support and share knowledge with junior chefs.
• Availability across a rotating seven-day roster, including weekends and public holidays.
• A passion for food, an openness to feedback and a willingness to keep learning.
