Minor Hotels Australasia, Oaks Cairns Hotel, is seeking a skilled and motivated Demi Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. You will support food preparation, cooking and presentation to deliver a high-quality dining experience for guests.

This role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to HACCP and OH&S, and opportunities for career growth within a global hospitality group that values exceptional guest experiences and a collaborative workplace culture.

Competenze

• Previous experience as a Demi Chef or in a similar kitchen role.
• Australian cookery qualifications, ideally Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation standards.
• Understanding of HACCP, OH&S, and kitchen hygiene requirements.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for cooking.
• Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Job Description

Oaks Cairns Hotel are looking for a skilled and motivated Demi Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, assisting with food preparation, cooking, and presentation, while helping deliver a high-quality dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations.
• Assist in the development and plating of high-quality meals.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.
• Support and mentor junior kitchen staff where required.
• Contribute to menu planning, recipe development, and kitchen efficiency improvements.

Expected Hours:Full time, 38 hours per week

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:
