Job summary

Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort is seeking a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a casual basis. You will assist with preparation and presentation of dishes and support the high standards of our dining experience.

Ideal candidates hold a Certificate III in Cookery, can work across breakfast, lunch and dinner shifts, including weekends, and are capable of coaching junior staff. Hourly rates range from $36.81 to $51.54, depending on day and shift.

Qualifications

• Relevant Certificate III in Cookery and previous experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of Modern Australian Cuisine.
• Understanding of HACCP and Workplace Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic team environment.
• Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends.
• Ability to coach and motivate less experienced kitchen team members.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a casual basis.

This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, assisting with the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes, and helping deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of dishes across all sections of the kitchen.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Take initiative to develop culinary skills and grow within a professional kitchen environment.
• Support less experienced team members when required.

Shift Details (subject to change)

• Breakfast, lunch and dinner shifts
• Split shifts may be required on some days

Hourly Rates (excluding superannuation)

Monday - Friday: $36.81 per hour

Saturday: $44.18 per hour

Sunday: $51.54 per hour
