Job summary

Alzheimer’s Queensland is seeking a compassionate Dementia Respite Assistant to join our Gordon Park centre in Brisbane. This casual, centre-based role supports people living with dementia and frail older Australians, helping them enjoy meaningful activities and good days.

You’ll work flexible shifts across Monday to Sunday, with an hourly rate of $49.41 plus super and penalties, and access salary packaging.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting older people and those living with dementia in community, respite, or residential settings.
• Strong communication skills and a kind, patient approach.
• Current First Aid & CPR and a valid Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Supporting frail aged clients and people living with dementia in a welcoming, engaging environment.
• Providing centre-based respite care.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with clients and their families.
• Encouraging independence and participation in meaningful activities.

Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is a leading not-for-profit supporting older people to live well at home. We’re looking for compassionate and experienced Dementia Respite Assistants to join our team at our Gordon Park centre.

About the Role
This is a hands‑on role where no two days are the same. You’ll support clients in a centre‑based respite setting—building genuine connections, encouraging participation, and helping create meaningful, enjoyable days. What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting frail aged clients and people living with dementia in a welcoming, engaging environment
• Providing centre‑based respite care

What You’ll Bring

• Experience supporting older people and those living with dementia (community, respite, or residential)
• Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support, or similar

• A genuine passion for person‑centred care

Availability

Our centres operate Monday to Sunday.
Flexibility to work afternoons, weekends, and occasional overnight shifts will be highly regarded.
