Job summary

Alzheimer’s Queensland is seeking casual Dementia Respite Assistants for our Brisbane North (Gordon Park) centre. You will support clients in a centre-based respite setting, building connections and encouraging participation to create meaningful, enjoyable days.

The role requires caring, patient individuals with experience supporting older people or those living with dementia and possession of a Certificate III in Aged Care or similar, along with First Aid/CPR and a driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting older people and those living with dementia.
• Certificate III in Aged Care or similar.
• Strong communication skills and a kind, patient approach.
• Current First Aid & CPR.
• Driver’s Licence.
• Genuine passion for person-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Support frail aged clients and people living with dementia in a welcoming environment.
• Provide centre-based respite care.
• Build trusting relationships with clients and families.
• Encourage independence and participation in meaningful activities.
• Work with a supportive team to ensure clients have a good day.
