HammondCare, delivering Dementia Support Australia (DSA) services in Cairns, is seeking a Dementia Consultant. You will support families and clinical staff, apply biopsychosocial approaches, and implement practical non-pharmacological strategies to improve quality of life for people living with dementia.

The role is based in Cairns with flexible hybrid work arrangements and a fixed-term contract through to June 2028.

Competenze

• Expertise in supporting people living with dementia
• Experience in Australian residential aged care and/or community aged care
• Be relatable and able to share knowledge to support change at all levels
• Demonstrate high negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent stakeholder management
• A current Australian drivers licence and willingness to travel
• Empathy and patience
• Commitment to HammondCare’s Christian Mission and Action

Mansioni

• Support families, caregivers and clinical staff to understand how dementia impacts individuals
• Equip carers and clinicians to prevent and respond to behaviour changes through modelling, coaching and development of resources
• Synthesize information through observation and documentation to provide evidence-based, relationship-centered recommendations
• Develop contextual reports to drive on-ground change and improve quality of life
• Undertake assessments to understand the holistic experience of the person and care network
• Collaborate with the Dementia Support Australia team to build capability across care sectors
• Contribute to research, projects and programs and respond to evolving sector needs
• Take on other projects aligned with your skills and knowledge
