Job summary

HammondCare, delivering Dementia Support Australia (DSA), is seeking a Dementia Consultant for the HACDSP program based in Hervey Bay. You will apply biopsychosocial approaches to support people living with dementia and their care networks, implementing practical non-pharmacological strategies to improve life quality.

This is a fixed-term engagement through June 2028. You will work across diverse care settings, collaborate with clinical staff and families, and contribute to research and program

Qualifications

• Expertise in supporting people living with dementia.
• Experience in Australian residential aged care and/or community aged care.
• Be relatable and able to share knowledge to support change at all levels.
• Demonstrate negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Support families, caregivers and clinical staff to understand how dementia impacts individuals.
• Equip carers and clinicians to prevent and respond to behaviour changes through modelling and coaching.
• Synthesize information through observation and documentation to inform recommendations.
• Develop contextualised reports that drive on-ground changes and improve quality of life for people with dementia.
• Undertake assessments to understand the holistic experience of the person and care network.
• Collaborate with the dementia support team to build capability across acute, home and aged care sectors.
• Contribute to research, projects and programs meeting sector needs.
• Take on other projects aligned with your skills and knowledge.
