Job summary

The Department of Health Victoria in Melbourne is seeking a Policy Officer, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to develop policies and programs promoting mental health and wellbeing for diverse Victorian communities and to promote equity across the mental health system.

You will support implementation of the Diverse Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework and Blueprint, and oversee initiatives that deliver equity for multicultural, disability, and LGBTIQA+ communities within the mental

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in public policy or a related field is desirable.
• Experience or understanding of the Victorian mental health system is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and provision of advice and sound policy recommendations to senior management and government.
• Undertake research and contribute to the development of policy and initiatives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
• Assist the monitoring and reporting on high-priority issues, risks and trends and assist to prepare and present comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex issues.
• Manage key projects to include setting up, monitoring and managing contracts with external providers to ensure high-quality outputs are delivered within agreed timeframes and budget, and results can inform policy development.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in public policy or related field
