Job summary

Saunders seeks a Tank/Mechanical Estimator to join the pre-contracts team across Defence, Water, Energy and Resources. Perth or Rhodes locations. You will develop cost estimates, BOQs and tender submissions for multidisciplinary projects.

Review RFPs for risks, liaise with clients and subcontractors, and contribute to competitive pricing strategies and ECIs to win large-scale opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years estimating experience in construction or heavy industrial sectors
• Strong understanding of construction methodology, cost planning, and subcontractor markets
• Proven track record of contributing to estimation and winning large-scale projects
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Autonomous working style in fast-paced pre-construction environments
• Flexible and adaptable to different approaches

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop competitive, compliant estimates and proposals from RFP review to submission
• Develop accurate BOQs, cost estimates, scope breakdowns and subcontractor packages
• Review tender documentation, identify gaps and risks, and articulate pricing assumptions
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve value-driven outcomes
• Contribute to tender risk assessments, constructability reviews and ECI activities
• Support business development by monitoring tender portals and market opportunities across Saunders’ markets
